Field Service Engineer Description
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic equipment and parts, engine and propulsion controls, automation systems and related hardware, systems, or software in marine vessels. You will work on board vessels that may be pier side or at a shipyard. The ideal candidate will support the fabrication and wiring of new electrical panels, switch gear and motor control panels in a workshop environment and assist in developing new or updated electronic/electrical systems, components, or products.

  • Lay out, assemble, test, and calibrate industrial control panel and distributed systems
  • Perform routine testing & calibrations to facility test equipment
  • Perform safety checks to ensure design plans are feasible in various conditions
  • Coordinate parts inventory with purchasing
  • Mount, label, and wire control panels
  • Coordinate with program leads work from engineering drawings and schematics to determine assembly & wiring procedures
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics and or engineering drawings
  • Responsible for the assembly and live testing of control panels, cabinets, and sub-assemblies
  • Craft work involving drilling, taping, de burring, mounting, marshalling, wiring, crimping work with wire harness and industrial power & automation component

Field Service Engineer Qualifications

  • Technical training on industrial control systems
  • Experience with Power Conversion (IGBT, SCR, etc.), PLCs, power and distribution systems infrastructure, contactors, relays, and other related components

Field Service Engineer Preferred Qualifications

  • PLC 1 or 2 training
  • HMI training
  • Marine ET experience as an electrical technician/wireman/electrician
  • Previous experience with Industrial control panel fabrication
