Junior Diesel Mechanic – Heavy Equipment
Job Summary
This vital role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with some hands-on mechanical experience to develop their skills working on heavy equipment used in marine construction projects. You will collaborate with senior mechanics to ensure the optimal performance and safety of diesel-powered equipment both in the yard and in the field.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of diesel-powered heavy equipment
- Support troubleshooting of hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance such as fluid changes, inspections, and basic repairs
- Help prepare equipment for field operations and project mobilization
- Maintain tools, parts inventory, and a clean, organized work area
- Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements at all times
Requirements
- 1–4 years of mechanical or diesel equipment experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, or heavy equipment
- Willingness to learn and work alongside experienced mechanics
- Ability to work outdoors in a yard environment
- Valid driver’s license required
