Purchasing Lead
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic Purchasing Lead to spearhead our procurement operations, build strong supplier relationships, and ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing that drives our company's success. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead a fast-paced purchasing process, influence production schedules, and contribute to our growth in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the full procurement cycle, from vendor negotiations to on-time delivery, ensuring alignment with project budgets and schedules.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders, including Production Planning, Control, and Plant Management.
- Manage and track open Purchase Orders (POs) and Project Allocation Reports (PARs), ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
- Collaborate with finance teams to maintain cost controls, keeping purchases within a 3% budget margin.
- Monitor and report on procurement metrics, including PO counts and PARs, to meet departmental goals.
- Identify new suppliers and leverage existing vendor relationships to enhance procurement efficiency.
- Proactively resolve issues, ensuring continuous improvement in purchasing processes and vendor performance.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and reporting to support transparency and informed decision-making.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment, preferably with heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
- Proven experience in plant or supply chain procurement, including working with outside service providers and major materials.
- High School diploma or GED required; higher education or certifications in procurement or supply chain management are a plus.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and automated purchasing systems.
- Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently and proactively resolve issues.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime and weekends as needed.
