2nd Assistant Engineer
Job Summary
Looking for a 3rd Engineer (holding USCG 2nd Assistant Engineer license) for a hitch onboard a high-spec offshore drillship operating in the Gulf.
This is not an entry-level offshore role. Previous drillship experience is required. Candidate must be comfortable standing engine room watch independently in a fast-paced drilling environment and stepping into an engine room with minimal hand holding.
Expect to work around:
• Diesel-electric propulsion systems
• Large medium-speed generators
• Thrusters and associated auxiliary systems
• DP-related support equipment
• High-pressure pumps and compressors
• Oily water separators, purifiers, boilers, HVAC, sewage treatment, and other vessel auxiliary machinery
• PMS / maintenance systems and daily preventative maintenance routines
Responsibilities
- Engine room watchstanding
- Troubleshooting
- Preventative maintenance
- Equipment repairs
- Log keeping
- Supporting ongoing drilling operations alongside the engineering team.
Requirements
- Up-to-date resume
- USCG MMC
- USCG Medical Certificate
- Foreign Flag License
- BOSIET / FOET / THUET
- RigPass or SafeGulf
- TWIC
- US Passport or government-issued ID
Candidate must be comfortable working in a high-tempo offshore environment where equipment reliability and response time matter. Looking for someone who can step onboard and contribute immediately without needing to be trained on basic drillship operations.
