Crane Operator
Job Summary
Core Group Resources is hiring Crane Operators for a marine repair shipyard in Charleston, MO. You’ll support barge and towboat repair crews by lifting and placing steel, equipment, and materials. The yard’s foremen are currently covering crane duties, so you’ll step in as a dedicated operator. This role suits a safety-focused operator who is comfortable working around active repair crews on the dock.
Responsibilities
- Operate yard cranes to lift, move, and position steel plate, components, and equipment
- Perform pre-shift inspections and report mechanical or safety issues
- Work with riggers and signal persons to plan and execute safe lifts
- Read load charts and stay within rated capacities
- Support welder/fitter crews during barge and towboat repair work
- Keep the crane and work area clean and organized
Requirements
- Experience operating cranes in a shipyard, dock, or industrial setting
- Working knowledge of rigging, hand signals, and load charts
- Strong safety record
Preferred Requirements
- NCCCO or equivalent crane certification
- Marine or inland river yard experience
- Rigger or signal person qualification
