Field Service Engineer – Mechanical

Responsibilities:
- Install and assemble AC/DC Motors and Generators according to mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Perform electrical testing such as insulation resistance, winding resistance, partial discharge, and hipot tests on motors and generators.
- Conduct mechanical inspections including bore scope inspections, neutral zone adjustments, shaft alignments, and bearing assessments.
- Execute start-up and commissioning activities, including static and operational testing, vibration analysis, and temperature monitoring.
- Disassemble and reassemble mechanical components such as rotors, stators, couplings, seals, and heat exchangers with precision.
- Use metrology tools and precision equipment to perform dimensional control, air-gap inspections, and shaft alignments.
- Troubleshoot vibration issues, perform balancing, and analyze schematics, P&IDs, and wiring diagrams.
- Adhere strictly to Environmental, Health, and Safety procedures at all job sites.
- Travel extensively (up to 85%) to client sites for installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
Requirements:
- Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Diploma, or Mechanical Graduate Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance of large and medium rotating machines.
- Proven expertise in installation, commissioning, and retrofit of large motors and medium voltage DC/AC motors, including synchronous and induction machines.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical inspections, shaft alignment, and mechanical component assembly/disassembly.
- Experience with vibration analysis, balancing, and troubleshooting rotating machinery.
- Ability to interpret schematics, engineering drawings, P&IDs, and wiring prints.
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as dial indicators, depth gauges, and parallels.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 85%) to various job sites.
- Knowledge of safety standards and environmental procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and installation of large rotating equipment.
