Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement production plans aligned with project milestones, critical path activities, testing, restoration, and vessel delivery.
  • Oversee work across various ship systems, including HM&E, structural, electrical, combat systems, and modernization activities, to prevent conflicts and ensure seamless execution.
  • Ensure work is properly planned, sequenced, staffed, and executed in accordance with specifications, drawings, NAVSEA Standard Items, technical requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Manage production performance against budgets, schedules, and milestones, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Monitor labor performance, productivity, earned value, and work progress, addressing issues proactively to minimize schedule impacts.
  • Identify and resolve production constraints, material issues, access limitations, and technical conflicts early in the process.
  • Support compartment closeout, testing, inspections, and certification activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings, clearly communicating project status, risks, and recovery strategies.
  • Mentor and develop Ship Superintendents and other production leaders, establishing consistent standards across projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Engineering, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with NAVSEA, Regional Maintenance Centers, Ship’s Force, subcontractors, and other key organizations.
  • Capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvements to enhance future project performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, Navy modernization, or heavy marine production.
  • Proven experience leading complex shipboard production activities and managing multiple trades or work packages.
  • Strong understanding of ship-repair planning, sequencing, testing, restoration, and production management.
  • Ability to interpret work specifications, drawings, technical manuals, and contractual requirements.
  • Experience managing labor budgets, schedules, milestones, and performance metrics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple organizations and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project planning/reporting tools.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience supporting U.S. Navy surface-ship repair or modernization, familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items, JFMM requirements, and AIT coordination.
