Machinist
Job Summary
Core Group Resources is hiring experienced Machinists for 1st shift in the machine shop of a marine repair shipyard in Paducah, KY. You’ll machine and repair shafts, rudders, couplings, and other components for towboats and barges. This role suits a skilled shop hand who can work from drawings and worn parts to produce accurate replacement components.
Responsibilities
- Set up and run manual lathes, mills, boring mills, and drill presses
- Machine, repair, and rebuild propeller shafts, rudder stocks, couplings, bushings, and bearings
- Work from blueprints, sketches, and worn sample parts
- Measure and inspect parts with micrometers, calipers, and indicators to hold tight tolerances
- Assist with removing and installing shafting and running gear on vessels
- Maintain shop equipment and follow shop safety procedures
Requirements
- Hands-on experience as a machinist on manual lathes and mills
- Able to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
- Experience producing parts to tolerance from drawings or samples
- Willing to work 1st shift
Preferred Requirements
- Marine, shipyard, or heavy industrial machine shop experience
- Large-diameter shaft or propeller work
- CNC or line boring experience
