Shipfitter/Boilermaker

Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of shipbuilding tools such as grinders and torches with proficiency.
  • Read and interpret shipbuilding blueprints and technical documents accurately.
  • Assemble basic plates and stiffeners, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.
  • Contribute to large panel and double bottom production, including pre-outfitting tasks.
  • Engage in web line production tasks, including plate cutting activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safety and efficiency at all times.
  • Participate in all yard production activities, including dry dock and fabrication processes.
  • Perform additional duties related to shipbuilding and repair as assigned, supporting team goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or manufacturing of heavy steel structures, pressure vessels, boilers, or similar products.
  • Skilled in welding and fitting with expertise in stick and flux core tack welding.
  • Proven experience with oxy-acetylene burning torch operations.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams.
  • Must pass a First Class Skill Test and a written assessment.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial safety protocols and hand tool operation.
  • Ability to work on 1st shift with reliable attendance.
  • Relevant certifications and safety training preferred.
