Responsibilities
- Utilize a variety of shipbuilding tools such as grinders and torches with proficiency.
- Read and interpret shipbuilding blueprints and technical documents accurately.
- Assemble basic plates and stiffeners, ensuring precision and adherence to specifications.
- Contribute to large panel and double bottom production, including pre-outfitting tasks.
- Engage in web line production tasks, including plate cutting activities.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring safety and efficiency at all times.
- Participate in all yard production activities, including dry dock and fabrication processes.
- Perform additional duties related to shipbuilding and repair as assigned, supporting team goals.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, or manufacturing of heavy steel structures, pressure vessels, boilers, or similar products.
- Skilled in welding and fitting with expertise in stick and flux core tack welding.
- Proven experience with oxy-acetylene burning torch operations.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams.
- Must pass a First Class Skill Test and a written assessment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial safety protocols and hand tool operation.
- Ability to work on 1st shift with reliable attendance.
- Relevant certifications and safety training preferred.
