Shipping & Receiving Specialist

Job Summary
Join our team as a Shipping & Receiving Specialist and play a vital role in managing the flow of goods across global markets. This position involves executing, coordinating, and monitoring inbound and outbound shipments to ensure compliance with customs regulations, global standards, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in shipping operations, able to perform core tasks with minimal guidance, and proactively communicates progress and issues to ensure seamless logistics operations.

Responsibilities

  • Execute, coordinate, and oversee inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring adherence to customs regulations, global and local standards, and customer requirements, primarily within the USA and Canada, dedicating approximately 80% of your time to these duties.
  • Confirm material deliveries from other regions or suppliers by processing goods receipt postings in the ERP system and delivering materials to designated locations.
  • Verify shipping invoices to ensure accuracy, typically accounting for about 10% of your daily responsibilities.
  • Organize transportation, packaging, and rental equipment such as forklifts or cranes for loading and unloading heavy goods, emphasizing safety, performance, and cost-effectiveness, representing roughly 5% of your role.
  • Support internal departments, suppliers, transport providers, and customs agents, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall logistics functions.

Requirements

  • Qualifications/Education: A vocational training, apprenticeship, or similar background in Logistics, Shipping & Receiving, or a related field is essential. Certifications in transporting dangerous goods (ground, ocean, air) are preferred. Certification to operate forklifts and overhead cranes is required.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of shipping and receiving experience is preferred, including handling customs clearance procedures, export control (screening, embargo, dual-use regulations), and claim management (liability and insurance knowledge). Experience working in international, culturally diverse environments is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong solutions-oriented mindset with resilience and analytical skills. Proven teamwork and communication abilities to foster collaboration and build trusted relationships. Customer-focused approach with proactive service orientation. Accountability and ownership of responsibilities are critical. A solid safety awareness and global mindset emphasizing respect for cultural diversity are essential. Proficiency in spoken and written English and the local language is required.
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, ERP systems (such as SAP), and online customs applications (e.g., EZT). Intermediate knowledge of courier systems (UPS, FedEx, DHL) and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
