Superintendent – Commercial Construction
Job Summary
An established commercial general contractor in the Houston market is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale, ground-up commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for managing daily jobsite execution from mobilization through completion and turnover—owning scheduling, subcontractor coordination, site logistics, safety, quality, and overall field performance. Direct tilt-wall construction experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead all daily field operations from project mobilization through completion and turnover.
- Develop, maintain, and execute project schedules in coordination with the Project Manager.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, equipment, and site logistics.
- Conduct daily jobsite coordination and ensure subcontractors meet schedule and quality expectations.
- Monitor construction progress and proactively identify potential schedule delays or field conflicts.
- Resolve field issues quickly and effectively to keep projects moving forward.
- Coordinate closely with the Project Manager to identify risks and develop solutions.
- Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other project documentation.
- Coordinate sequencing between trades and ensure work is performed per plans and specifications.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and productive jobsite; enforce safety requirements and applicable standards.
- Conduct quality-control inspections and ensure workmanship meets project requirements.
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings and communicate milestones and schedule expectations.
- Manage inspections, punch-list activities, project closeout, and turnover.
- Maintain accurate daily reports and field documentation.
- Build productive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, design professionals, and project management.
Requirements
- Proven Superintendent experience within commercial construction.
- Tilt-wall construction experience (required).
- Experience independently leading field operations on ground-up commercial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, scheduling, site logistics, subcontractor management, safety, and quality control.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve field conflicts before they impact the schedule.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; ability to manage multiple subcontractors and trades in a fast-paced environment.
