  • Oversee container drayage operations involving ports, rail ramps, warehouses, customers, and distribution centers.
  • Coordinate closely with dispatchers, drivers, and owner-operators to guarantee timely pickups and deliveries.
  • Monitor daily freight activity, equipment utilization, driver availability, and operational performance metrics.
  • Consistently meet service commitments and uphold customer expectations.
  • Identify operational issues such as delays, equipment challenges, staffing concerns, and service disruptions, implementing effective solutions.

  • Ensure operations adhere to safety policies, DOT regulations, and transportation compliance standards.
  • Promote a safety-first culture across all terminal activities.
  • Track operational KPIs to identify areas for improvement in productivity, service levels, utilization, and profitability.
  • Manage employee performance, accountability, scheduling, and ongoing training initiatives.
  • Support driver and owner-operator retention through clear communication and operational support.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership on strategy execution and continuous operational improvement.
  • Facilitate accurate, timely communication among operations, clients, drivers, and management.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with dispatch operations, driver management systems, equipment utilization, and customer service principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make quick, effective decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with excellent communication and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to hold teams accountable while fostering a positive work atmosphere.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety standards.

  • Knowledge of intermodal equipment, chassis management, container availability, demurrage/detention practices, and terminal appointment scheduling.
  • Proven success managing high-volume drayage or intermodal terminals.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Several years of leadership experience in intermodal or port transportation environments.
