Wastewater / Ultra Pure Water (UPW) Construction Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Wastewater / Ultra Pure Water (UPW) Construction Manager to support the construction of a large-scale, highly technical manufacturing facility in Boise, Idaho.
This position will be responsible for the field coordination, installation, and delivery of complex ultra-pure water and wastewater treatment systems that are critical to facility operations. The Construction Manager will oversee process mechanical scopes, coordinate specialty contractors and equipment vendors, and ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with design, quality, and commissioning requirements.
The ideal candidate has significant construction experience with UPW, industrial wastewater treatment, high-purity piping, or process mechanical systems, preferably within semiconductor fabs, cleanrooms, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Oversee field construction and installation of UPW and wastewater treatment systems, including process piping, filtration systems, pumps, tanks, valves, and associated equipment.
- Manage day-to-day construction activities associated with the UPW and wastewater scope.
- Coordinate specialty subcontractors, equipment vendors, engineering teams, and other construction disciplines.
- Manage the integration of process mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls (I&C) systems.
- Review construction drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, equipment documentation, and vendor drawings for constructability and field execution.
- Monitor construction schedules and identify potential delays, constraints, and critical-path issues.
- Develop and coordinate mitigation and recovery plans when schedule or construction issues arise.
- Lead field coordination and progress meetings with project stakeholders, contractors, vendors, and trade partners.
- Coordinate equipment procurement, fabrication, delivery, installation, and field readiness.
- Monitor installation of high-purity and process piping systems, including PVDF, stainless steel, and other specialized materials.
- Ensure construction activities comply with project QA/QC requirements, safety standards, specifications, and approved drawings.
- Track RFIs, submittals, field changes, punch-list items, and other construction documentation associated with assigned systems.
- Coordinate system completion and construction turnover requirements.
- Support commissioning, startup, testing, and final system turnover activities.
- Provide regular reporting regarding construction progress, schedule, safety, quality, risks, and outstanding issues.
- Serve as the primary field point of contact for assigned UPW and wastewater construction scopes.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of construction experience, preferably within large-scale industrial, semiconductor, cleanroom, advanced manufacturing, or mission-critical environments.
- Direct experience with ultra-pure water (UPW), wastewater treatment, process water, or complex process mechanical systems.
- Strong working knowledge of water treatment equipment and systems, including:
- Reverse osmosis (RO)
- Filtration systems
- Carbon beds
- Pumps and pumping systems
- Tanks and vessels
- Valves and process piping
- Water treatment and wastewater equipment
- Experience with high-purity piping systems and materials, including PVDF and stainless steel.
- Understanding of process mechanical and instrumentation & controls (I&C) integration.
- Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors, specialty contractors, and equipment vendors on major construction projects.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, construction drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, and technical submittals.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, field coordination, and system turnover.
- Experience coordinating installation activities across multiple trades and disciplines.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly technical construction environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous construction experience on semiconductor fabrication facilities or other high-tech manufacturing projects.
- Experience with large-scale UPW and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
- Experience supporting cleanroom or high-purity manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with semiconductor facility utility and process infrastructure.
- Experience taking systems through construction, commissioning, startup, and final turnover.
- Previous responsibility for large process mechanical construction packages involving multiple vendors and subcontractors.
