Commercial Construction Superintendent
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on interior build-out projects across the Greater Houston area. This vital role involves overseeing all aspects of commercial interior construction, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards of quality. Responsibilities
- Manage daily on-site operations for commercial interior construction projects.
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders to ensure seamless workflow.
- Guarantee all work is completed safely, according to schedule, and complies with project specifications.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation for accuracy and clarity.
- Coordinate material deliveries and verify that installations align with approved submittals.
- Maintain detailed daily jobsite reports, progress updates, manpower tracking, and comprehensive project documentation.
- Lead subcontractor coordination meetings, fostering effective communication and collaboration among project teams.
- Perform quality control inspections throughout each construction phase to uphold standards.
- Monitor project schedules diligently and identify potential delays proactively.
- Coordinate municipal inspections and ensure all permits and licenses are current and compliant.
- Oversee punch list development, verify corrective work is completed prior to project turnover.
- Uphold OSHA safety standards and maintain an organized, safe jobsite environment.
- Protect existing building finishes and coordinate work within occupied commercial facilities when applicable.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Manager to resolve field issues quickly and keep projects moving forward.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Superintendent on commercial construction projects, with a focus on interior build-outs or tenant improvements.
- Proven expertise managing commercial interior projects, including office, healthcare, industrial, or Class A renovations.
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and specifications.
- Experience coordinating multiple subcontractors simultaneously, ensuring smooth project flow.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and permitting processes.
- Solid understanding of project scheduling, sequencing, and construction workflow management.
- Experience with punch lists, project closeout, and turnover documentation.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage field teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software is highly desirable.
- Preferred experience in environments such as high-rise interiors, occupied renovations, or commercial office build-outs.
