Deckhand
Job Summary
Core Group Resources is hiring Deckhands for a marine repair shipyard in South Point, OH. You’ll support harbor boats and yard crews as barges and towboats move in and out of repair berths. This role suits people who are comfortable working on the water and want steady work in an inland river yard.
Responsibilities
- Handle lines, wires, and rigging to make up and break tows and secure barges and vessels
- Assist harbor boat pilots with fleeting and shifting barges around the yard
- Check mooring lines, pump out barges, and report hull or deck issues
- Perform deck maintenance including cleaning, chipping, and painting
- Support dock and repair crews as needed
- Follow deck safety and personal flotation device requirements
Requirements
- Able to work on deck outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to lift heavy lines and rigging and climb ladders
- Comfortable working on and around the water
- Able to pass pre-employment screening
Preferred Requirements
- Deckhand or fleet experience on the inland rivers
- TWIC card
- USCG Merchant Mariner Credential
