Shipyard Laborer
Job Summary
Core Group Resources is hiring Shipyard Laborers for a marine repair shipyard in South Point, OH. You’ll support welders, fitters, painters, and dock crews working on towboats and barges. This is a high-priority, entry-level way into shipyard work. It suits hard-working people who are comfortable with physical, outdoor work and want to learn a marine trade.
Responsibilities
- Move steel, tools, and materials around the yard and onto vessels
- Clean, sweep, and prep barge and boat compartments for repair and coating work
- Assist welders and fitters with grinding, cutting, and fit-up support
- Support blasting, painting, and cleanup crews
- Help with line handling and general dock work
- Keep work areas clean and follow yard safety rules
Requirements
- Able to do physical work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces and at heights
- Reliable attendance and willingness to learn
- Able to pass pre-employment screening
Preferred Requirements
- Shipyard, construction, or industrial labor experience
- Experience with grinders, torches, or other hand and power tools
- Forklift experience
