Groundhand Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and safety-minded Groundhand to support our arboriculture team in performing tree trimming, removal, and related ground operations. This crucial role offers an opportunity to work outdoors, assist experienced climbers, and develop practical skills in urban forestry while contributing to safe and beautiful communities.
Groundhand Responsibilities:
- Assist climbers with communication and ground support during tree trimming and removal projects
- Help secure and lower branches using ropes and rigging systems under supervision
- Operate chippers and other ground equipment (training provided if necessary)
- Rake, sweep, and clear debris from work sites to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Load and unload tools, equipment, and materials from trucks and trailers
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment as needed
- Strictly follow safety protocols and comply with OSHA, ANSI, and company policies
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient job completion
Groundhand??????? Position Requirements:
- 1+ years of tree service or outdoor labor experience (preferred)
- Strong understanding of safe chipper and chainsaw operation, along with arboriculture principles
- Excellent physical fitness and stamina to work long hours outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and debris safely
- Fluency in English; Spanish proficiency is a plus
- Valid driver’s license; willingness to obtain necessary certifications and pass company driver’s exam for wage increase
- TCIA Certified Groundhand (optional but advantageous)
- Ability to follow safety standards and company policies diligently
- Flexibility to work overtime and emergency hours as required
