Ironworker – Datacenter

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Ironworker to support the construction of advanced data centers and AI supercomputing campuses. This full-time, onsite role involves erecting the structural framework that forms the backbone of our high-performance facilities, including supercomputer halls, cooling systems, substations, and site infrastructure. The ideal candidate will work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical, and operations teams to ensure precise installation and adherence to safety standards. Travel to various data center sites will be required to support the buildout of critical infrastructure. If you are a dedicated professional with hands-on experience in structural steel erection and a passion for building in mission-critical environments, this is your opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology developments.

Responsibilities

  • Erect structural steel components for supercomputer halls, mechanical plants, substations, cooling yards, and site buildings, including columns, beams, bracing, joists, and metal decking.
  • Install miscellaneous metals such as stairs, ladders, platforms, catwalks, grating, handrails, embeds, and equipment frames to support construction, operations, and maintenance access.
  • Fabricate and install pipe racks, aerial galleries, mezzanines, and support steel for chilled-water piping, cable tray, busway, and liquid-cooling distribution systems.
  • Rig, hoist, and set structural members and heavy equipment-support steel using cranes, come-alongs, chain falls, and approved lifting gear; act as rigger or signal person when qualified.
  • Bolt, torque, weld, and plumb connections following structural drawings, AISC, AWS standards, and inspection requirements.
  • Read and interpret structural and erection drawings, layout from control points, check elevations and plumbness, and report conflicts before steel installation.
  • Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to ensure correct landings for embeds, penetrations, cooling towers, generators, transformers, pumps, and IT equipment.
  • Follow safety protocols, including fall protection, crane, rigging, hot-work, LOTO, PPE, and permit procedures, maintaining a safe work environment at heights and in active construction zones.
  • Support inspection, punch-list, and turnover processes throughout project completion and site handover.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of ironworking experience in commercial, industrial, or heavy civil structural steel, or equivalent military structural or rigging experience.
  • Ability to read structural and erection drawings and work according to AISC connection details.
  • Hands-on proficiency with structural bolt-up, cutting, and the safe operation of aerial lifts, ladders, and material-handling equipment.
  • Willingness to work at heights, outdoors, and in dynamic construction environments.
  • Strong safety awareness with current OSHA 10 or equivalent certification.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights and weekends during critical construction periods.
  • Must be able to travel extensively to multiple data center locations and work on-site for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting moderate to heavy loads, climbing ladders and steel structures, and wearing PPE for extended hours.
  • Additional preferred qualifications include union or non-union ironworker experience, AWS D1.1 welding certification, NCCCO or similar crane certification, OSHA 30, or fall-protection competent person certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Take your skills to the forefront of technology infrastructure and be part of a groundbreaking project—apply now to shape the future of data center construction.
