Structural Welder- Datacenter
Job Summary
Core Group Resources is hiring experienced Industrial Welders to support the buildout of next-generation AI data centers for a leading technology client. You'll fit and weld large-bore industrial piping and structural steel to ASME Section IX standards, working alongside mechanical, structural, electrical, and operations crews from early construction through system turnover.
This role suits a hands-on welder who takes pride in quality work, keeps a job site moving, and is comfortable traveling to wherever the work is.
The rest of the posting stays the same and doesn't mention the client anywhere else.
Responsibilities
- Fit, tack, and weld large-bore piping and structural steel, including pipe racks, platforms, supports, and skids, per drawings and WPS.
- Lay out, cut, bevel, grind, and align joints, and verify fit-up, root opening, and reinforcement before and after welding.
- Read isometric, spool, and structural drawings, and follow weld maps, heat number tracking, and rod-control requirements.
- Install strut, hangers, supports, and structural members, and assist with equipment setting and bolt-up as needed.
- Stage, move, and inventory pipe, fittings, steel, filler metal, and tools, and keep laydown yards organized.
- Set up and close out work areas, including hot-work permits, fire watch, debris and scrap removal, and end-of-shift reset.
- Follow LOTO, PPE, hot-work, and all site safety rules.
- Report rejected welds, damaged material, unsafe conditions, and drawing conflicts right away.
- Support punch-list, repair, and NDE hold-point work through turnover.
Requirements
- 3+ years of journey-level industrial construction welding on large piping and/or structural steel, a completed welding apprenticeship, or equivalent military experience.
- Current ASME Section IX qualification, or the ability to pass a pre-employment ASME Section IX weld test in the processes and positions used on site.
- Ability to travel extensively and stay onsite during peak construction phases.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights and outdoors, lift and position moderate loads, stand and walk a full shift, and wear welding PPE for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Requirements
- 6G ASME Section IX qualification in GTAW (TIG) on stainless and/or SMAW (stick) on carbon steel. Proficiency in both is ideal, and FCAW is a plus.
- AWS D1.1 structural welding certification or equivalent.
- Experience on data center, industrial, or heavy-civil construction sites.
- OSHA 10 or equivalent.
- High school diploma or GED.
