Offshore Rig Electrician
Job Summary
Looking for an Offshore Rig Electrician for a 21-day hitch onboard a deepwater offshore drilling vessel operating in the Gulf.
This is a hands-on electrician role supporting active drilling operations. We're looking for someone who has previous offshore drilling experience and can step onboard ready to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment without needing to learn the basics of a drillship electrical plant.
You'll be working around:
• Diesel-electric power generation systems
• 600V and medium-voltage distribution systems
• Switchboards, MCCs, transformers, and breakers
• VFDs, SCRs, motor controls, and protection systems
• Top drive, drawworks, mud pumps, and drilling equipment controls
• DP support equipment and critical vessel systems
• Hazardous area electrical equipment and Ex-rated installations
• PLCs, automation systems, alarms, and instrumentation
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting electrical faults
- Performing preventative maintenance
- Reading schematics
- Replacing and repairing component
- Isolating equipment safely
- Supporting operations when equipment goes down.
- This is a working role where response time and troubleshooting ability matter.
Responsibilities
- COMPEX is strongly preferred. Candidates with hazardous area experience, strong industrial electrical backgrounds, and previous drillship or deepwater offshore experience will be the best fit.
