QC Helper
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated QC Helper to join our team and ensure galvanized materials meet quality standards before delivery. This vital role involves inspecting, cleaning, and touch-up of steel components, supporting the overall quality assurance process. The ideal candidate will be physically capable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, often under demanding heat conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Collect materials as directed by the team lead, including manual removal from racks, carrying smaller pieces, or assisting forklift operators.
- Inspect each piece for defects or areas requiring touch-up.
- Use files, grinders, wire brushes, or torches to clean excess zinc from materials.
- Maneuver and inspect steel pieces weighing up to 150 pounds with the assistance of a co-worker.
- Communicate with forklift drivers to move larger or heavier items safely.
- Identify defect types and determine appropriate corrective actions, including applying zinc paint when necessary.
- Maintain tools and keep work areas clean throughout the shift.
- Ensure all orders are complete, inspected, and ready for shipment.
Requirements:
- Ability to work well independently and with team members.
- Follow verbal instructions accurately.
- Read a tape measure with precision.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
- Lift up to 50 pounds from ground to shoulder or higher.
- Maintain high safety awareness and wear PPE at all times.
- Certification in heavy equipment operation, including forklift.
- Provide leadership and training to team members when needed.
- Frequent lifting of materials up to 20 pounds; occasional lifting up to 50 pounds; occasional handling of materials up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work in outdoor seasonal conditions with provided shade, water, and shelter during rainstorms.
