Radio Operator
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Radio Operator to join a deepwater drillship operating in the Gulf. This vital role supports the rig’s daily communications and marine operations, ensuring seamless connectivity between the rig, shore base, vessels, helicopters, and other offshore traffic. The ideal candidate will play a key part in maintaining reliable communication channels, supporting safety protocols, and facilitating efficient offshore logistics. Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor GMDSS and radio communication equipment to ensure continuous, reliable communication.
- Maintain accurate communication and radio logs for operational and safety purposes.
- Coordinate helicopter and personnel movements, supporting offshore logistics.
- Support emergency communications and participate in drills to ensure preparedness.
- Monitor weather and marine traffic information to support safe operations.
- Assist with crew logistics, documentation, and other related tasks as required.
- Collaborate closely with the bridge, marine department, and offshore leadership to facilitate smooth operations.
Requirements
- Previous offshore experience required, drillship experience strongly preferred
- USCG MMC with appropriate Radio Officer/GMDSS endorsements
- GMDSS Operator certification
- Current USCG Medical Certificate with STCW
- BOSIET / FOET / THUET
- RigPass / SafeGulf
- TWIC
- U.S. Passport
- Foreign flag credential as required
