Surge Support Medical Equipment Repair Technician

Job Summary

This role is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul, and testing of biomedical equipment used in patient diagnosis and treatment environments. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced operational settings, has strong technical expertise, and is prepared to support rapid deployment requirements worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, test, and repair a wide range of medical and dental equipment used in clinical and operational environments.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions using technical manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and flow charts.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and operational readiness.
  • Support senior-level technicians with advanced troubleshooting and complex repair activities.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems, including circuitry, transistors, and related components.
  • Conduct electrical load and circuitry calculations as required for equipment operation and repair.
  • Utilize precision tools and strong hand-eye coordination when working with sensitive and miniature components.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with quality standards, safety procedures, and mission timelines.
  • Maintain readiness for up to 70% travel, including the ability to deploy within 72 hours when required.
  • Obtain and maintain all required credentials, including Common Access Card (CAC), base access, and applicable security clearances.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of directly related experience in biomedical or medical equipment repair.
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, military training, and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Advanced Biomedical Repairman experience with Fleet Marine Force (FMF) or equivalent military experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and electronic principles, including troubleshooting and repair of biomedical and dental equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, including schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and flow sheets.
  • Experience performing electrical calculations and diagnosing circuitry-related issues.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business applications.
  • U.S. Citizenship required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a CAC, base access, and required security clearances.
  • Valid passport required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel extensively and support rapid deployment operations worldwide.
