USCG 2nd Assistant Engineer
Job Summary
An experienced 2nd Assistant Engineer is needed to join a deepwater drillship operating in the Gulf on a relief hitch. This role is suited for an offshore engineer who can step onboard, integrate quickly with the engine department, and safely support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the vessel’s power plant, machinery, and auxiliary systems with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Stand engineering watches and complete machinery rounds
- Support the safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of vessel machinery and auxiliary systems
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance using the Planned Maintenance System (PMS)
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and assist with inspections and overhauls
- Maintain engine room logs and required records
- Work with diesel-electric power generation and related equipment, including generators, thrusters, pumps, compressors, purifiers, fuel and lube oil systems, cooling systems, HVAC, freshwater systems, and other machinery supporting MODU and drilling operations
Requirements
- Drillship experience
- Offshore engineering experience (required)
- USCG 2nd Assistant Engineer license (or higher)
- Appropriate STCW engineering endorsements
- Current USCG Medical Certificate
- BOSIET / FOET / THUET
- RigPass / SafeGulf
- TWIC
- U.S. Passport
- Foreign flag license as required
