Designer
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Designer I to support electrical engineering projects by producing accurate, detailed construction drawing packages using AutoCAD and Revit. In this role, you will partner closely with engineers and senior designers to translate engineering concepts, sketches, and project requirements into clear, technically accurate, and constructible deliverables. This position is ideal for a hands-on designer who enjoys technical problem-solving, collaboration, and continued professional growth in electrical design.
Responsibilities
- Develop and edit detailed electrical plans, schematics, layouts, and construction drawings using AutoCAD.
- Create and update Revit 3D models and drawing sets to support BIM workflows.
- Translate engineering sketches and design concepts into clear, buildable drawings.
- Coordinate drawing content with other disciplines to maintain consistency and reduce design conflicts.
- Apply electrical engineering principles related to circuits, loads, equipment, and one-line diagrams.
- Maintain drawing standards, including layer conventions, symbols, and templates.
- Participate in design reviews and provide drafting solutions that improve clarity, constructability, and efficiency.
- Perform quality checks to confirm drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Perform wire and conduit sizing calculations in accordance with NEC and project requirements.
- Conduct load analysis and arc flash studies for low- and medium-voltage power systems.
- Perform conduit fill and voltage drop calculations to support compliance and constructability.
- Collaborate with senior engineers for technical guidance, mentorship, and project coordination.
Requirements
- Approximately 5–12 years of relevant electrical design/drafting experience.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Experience creating and modifying drawings and models in Revit.
- Strong computer drafting skills, including view scaling, dimensioning, and annotation best practices.
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and fundamental electrical engineering concepts.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly through drawings, diagrams, layouts, and details.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Experience supporting BIM workflows through Revit 3D modeling and drawing set development.
- Experience contributing drafting solutions during design reviews to improve constructability and efficiency.
Other requirements:
- Full-time, on-site role based in Houston, Texas.
- Must be able to commute to the work location or be willing to relocate prior to starting.
